Usually, we would enjoy shopping, but on Sundays, stores are closed.

Pastel-hued buildings decorate the waterfront of this very Dutch Caribbean island. A World Heritage site, the Punda district preserves hundreds of buildings as national monuments, including Fort Amsterdam, the Governor’s Palace, Mikve Israel-Emanuel Synagogue, one of the first synagogues in the New World.

We visited the Market Square and had great fun choosing all types of fresh spices. I look forward to cooking with them once back home.

Tomorrow we get off the ship in Barbados. Open the attached video to see our route to get there.

Ready to embrace la dolce vita on your next journey? Mostly made with ground corn. Delicious and enticing aromas. We also ate some of their fruit. So sweet and tasty. We strolled through leafy plazas named for heroes such as Simon Bolivar, who liberated Latin America from Spanish rule. We had some free time to just roam, and we felt very safe.

The only run-in we had was with a parrot who took a liking to my husband's hat.

Where should your next journey take you? The huge oil tankers and container ships cruise through the canals with unbelievable precision. It was truly awe-inspiring.

Later, we explored the town of Porto Belo. It was once the busiest city in the New World. We had a spectacular view of the new canal locks from an observatory platform.

The town has a long history of pirate attacks, and this is where Sir Francis Drake died in 1596. Christopher Columbus named Porto Belo, meaning “beautiful harbor,” while visiting the area in 1502.

Where should your next journey take you? Excavations on these Bronze Age sites were begun by the English archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans and his team in 1893 and lasted 35 years.

Entering the Great Palace through the West Court, you can easily see why the legend of the labyrinth grew up here. It takes about one and a half hours to explore all the parts of this amazing Palace.

During this walking tour, you’ll admire the superb Royal Quarters, the Throne room with an Antechamber and main throne, and the Queen’s Quarters whose wall above the entrance door is decorated with a copy of the famous dolphin frescos.

Apart from the Royal Palace, there are also other buildings included in the site, such as the Small Palace, the House of the High Priest and the Caravanserai.

Your Ensemble Experience then continues to Arolithos to experience a traditional Cretan village.

In this village, you’ll see how people used to live and the atmosphere of times gone by. There is a museum in the village, which hosts the equipment people used in their numerous tasks during the day.

Walking through the narrow, colorful alleys of the village, you’ll reach the main square where, under the shade of a plane tree, you can enjoy a Cretan lunch and the local spirit raki. Afterwards, you may stroll around the narrow streets of Arolithos and get acquainted with the typical life and customs of a Cretan village.

Ensemble® Experience shore excursions are capacity-controlled, subject to change without notice, and require a minimum number of participants. But often, the most powerful memories are not just the victories won, they are the journeys taken together. Sports group travel transforms games into adventures, giving athletes and fans alike stories they will carry for a lifetime.

Traveling as a team is about more than competing in tournaments or championships. It is about discovering new places together, sharing the nervous excitement before a big match, and celebrating every small victory along the way. These journeys shape character, forge lifelong friendships, and remind us that sport is as much about the people as it is about the game.

What makes sports travel so unique is the balance between performance and exploration. Between practices and matches, teams can immerse themselves in a new culture, explore local landmarks, and taste the flavours of a different region. The game might be the reason for travel, but the experiences beyond the arena are what leave the deepest impressions.

In the end, sports group travel is about more than winning; it is about belonging. It gives athletes and their supporters a chance to step away from the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary. From the first team cheer on the bus to the final farewell at the airport, these journeys remind us why we play, why we travel, and why shared experiences matter most.

Turn every tournament into an unforgettable adventure. Connect with us to begin planning your team’s travel experience.

Every little detail had been taken care of, even gifts for some of the kids who had their birthday while we were overseas. The kids had a great time and so did the adults. The hotel at the foot of the Neuschwanstein Castle was extraordinary as was the entire trip. For our kids, it was the experience of a lifetime.

Sports Team Fundraising

You Already Have the Tools

Getting your team traveling is an entirely achievable goal for most organizations. Through a combination of player/student fundraising activities and corporate solicitation, it is entirely possible to raise enough money to fund a week-long trip for your entire team within a year.

HOT Sports can help you do this.

How Much?

In 2005, a one-week trip with all meals and transportation included can cost approximately $2000 in Canadian dollars. This is an estimate based on current fares and rates, with some cultural activities planned during the trip. Some trips will cost more, some less.

Raising $2000 per person over the course of a year is quite achievable for most organizations.

How to Do It

There are a variety of methods that you can employ:

First, and often most effective, is corporate sponsorship. Contact your local businesses, or your own employer, or sports equipment manufacturers. Many of these companies would be willing to contribute to your team's project in exchange for promotional placement. Send at least 25 letters to various companies and organizations.

Second, hold fundraising activities: Bingo games, golf tournaments, pledge walks. Make sure that you promote them prominently as fundraisers for youth activities. Contact local radio stations to get your fundraisers announced.

Third, speak to everyone you know: friends, family, co-workers. Small donations can add up surprisingly quickly.

Fourth, make sure that your team members participate in the fundraising activities. Youngsters can bag groceries in local stores, or hold car washes. Not only is this a great way to contribute to the trip, it keeps the members of your team involved in the process.

If you need more help organizing your fundraising activities, talk to us.
